We're committed to handling your baggage with the utmost care. Here are some general planning guidelines to ensure a great flight for you and your belongings.
During the normal rigors of air travel your luggage will be transported on conveyor belts and travel on baggage carts and may encounter weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind or sun light. In addition your luggage will move and shift during take off, flight and landing.
General Baggage Tips
Identification: All items are required to have identification on them and we strongly recommend identification inside as well.
Claim Checks: Check that you have a claim check for each piece of baggage and that the bags are being checked to the appropriate destination. At your destination make sure you check the numbers against the receipt to be certain you have your luggage and not someone else’s.
Valuables: Never check laptop computers, jewelry, keys, medication, audio or video equipment or other electronics, travel documents, passports, cash, legal documents, antiques etc. in checked baggage. The FAA prohibits “carry-on” baggage on Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines aircraft. You may place a personal item in the wing when boarding – so please make sure your valuables are in your personal wing item.
Medication in Checked Baggage: Always keep important medications in your personal wing item, never in checked baggage.
Baggage Allowance/Acceptance
Checked Baggage: We accept 1 piece of checked baggage per ticketed passenger with a maximum weight of 50 lbs. and size of 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) plus 1 gate checked bag sized to pass through TSA screening and which would fit into the overhead bin of a connecting flight jet aircraft.
Carry-out Baggage: You may place a personal wing item (laptop, briefcase, diaper bag etc) not to exceed 36 linear inches or 18" x 11" x 7", in the wing when boarding. If your personal item doesn’t fit in the wing sizer it will need to be checked.
Excess Baggage: Excess baggage is transported on a space available basis and additional charges may apply. If we place an excess tag on one or more of your bags it does not necessarily mean the bag will not get on the flight.
Overweight Baggage: We cannot accept baggage weighing over 70 lbs.
Fishing Equipment: We accept fishing equipment. We can not be liable for damage to fishing equipment not packed in hard side case. A limited release tag is required.
Unusually shaped objects: Bicycles, surfboards, canoes, kayaks and other such large pieces or sporting equipment exceed the capacity of the compartments and are not accepted for transport.
Golf Bags: We accept golf bags however, we can not be liable for loss or damage to equipment in open golf bags.
Pets: We gladly accept pets on our flights except when traveling to or from White Plains, however, we can only take one pet per cabin. For this reason, it's important that you make a reservation for your pet. Multiple pets are accepted if from the same family however, they must be kenneled. Cats always need to be in kennels. The largest assembled pet kennel that will fit on our airplane measures 27"x20"x19".
Pets must be accompanied by a traveling passenger. Connections with other carriers are not available. Upon arrival, health certificates may be required by local authorities, depending upon the route over which the pet is traveling.
If you have any questions about traveling with a pet, please call a Customer Service Representative at 1-800-635-8787, 1-508-228-6234 or 1-508-771-6944.
